After a brief rain delay on Monday, private schools continued to dominate tennis at the
AHSAA State Tennis Tournament
After the first day, Mongomery Academy, Houston Academy, The Randolph School, The Donoho School
, The Altamont School,
and Indian Springs School were vying for the state championship.
Red Bay had two singles and one doubles team in the quarter-finals, but lost all three matches.
Red Bay has had 12 teams since 1991 play in the AHSAA state tournament.
Quote: Red Bay High School Coach Sonny Glasgow, " We played about as well as
we could in hot and humid conditions. We were simply outmatched by several private schools. I was extremely proud
of our team for qualifying as we surprised several teams in the section at Sheffield. It was an honor for the kids to
be playing with the top ten teams statewide. We return 5 out of 6 on the boys and 3 out of 6 on the girls for next year.
Hopefully, this experience will benefit us in the section and state tournaments next year."
