Tennis Results - 1A-3A Boys State Meet - 2007

Quotes from Coach Glasgow, "

Our overall finish for the Boys Team at State was 7th.  This was our highest finish in 10 years going back to the 1997 team.

We had two boys,  Jarnigan (Wesley) and Young (Matt) that lost in the semifinals.  We had two other matches in which we lost in 3 sets. Two doubles matches,  Jarnigan-Young and Gray-Thigpen split sets, but then lost the deciding set.  We had one senior, Jeremy Johnson, who lost in the 1st round but he had several big wins during the season against Haleyville and Sheffield. All of the team, hustled, and did their best.  Kirk Armstrong did a good job at #6 all year and John Thigpen came back and won a match after having cramps.  Toby Gray and John Thigpen were just 2 points from winning their doubles match.  We also had good support from Anthony Horton and Chris Funderburk .

We return 8 of the top 9 next year, so we hope to improve our position statewide. "

If our team continues to work and put in some tournaments in the summer, we should improve and  3 -peat on the Section Championship."

I would also like to thank the administration, parents, and Tennis Patrons for their help and contributions."

Our team played very well in the sectional  and did their best in state and I was very pleased with the results.
